A Reading from the Second Letter of St Paul to St Timothy

I’m already at the point of being sacrificed, and the time for my leaving has come. I have boxed in the good fight of faith; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. There awaits for me the reward of the victor’s crown which The Lord, who judges rightly, will award me on The Day. And not to me only; but to all who have loved His appearing.
Do your best to come to me. Soon. Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me. Crescens has gone. Luke alone is with me.
Get Mark and bring him with you. He’s very helpful. When you come, bring that cloak I left behind. And the books. Above all, bring me the parchments. Do your best to come before winter sets in. The Lord be with you. Grace be with you.

Bishop Matthews came to visit our school to celebrate St Luke.
