Whilst in reception at St. Luke’s your child will be assessed throughout the year through observations, interactions, games, guided and independent work. They will be a focus child every term which will give the teacher further information about your child’s learning. This will all be combined and the teacher will use the Early Year’s checkpoints to decide if they are ‘on track’ to reach the Early Learning goal at the end of the academic year. The checkpoints are broken into four assessment times throughout the school year: September, December, April and July and cover every aspect of the Early Years foundation stage. These have been created to ensure that they match with what the teaching will be teaching and the progression of skills.
