I was appointed as a governor for Betley Primary School back in 2014 and shortly after that the Federation was formed and I am now the Local Education Authority governor for both St. Luke's and Betley. I am married to Charlotte and we have three children of which Rowen and Theo attend Betley with Imogen having left in 2022 for Sandbach High School. I have enjoyed the challenges of being a governor and feel it a privilege to be able to serve our schools.
My background is not in education and so I feel I am able to bring alternative viewpoints and experiences to the governing body for the benefit of the schools, our staff and ultimately our pupils. I am a vet by profession, with a strong interest in surgery, and run Pool Farm Veterinary Surgery in Betley. Having said my background is not in education I am involved in some veterinary postgraduate teaching at the University of Liverpool as well.
Having lived in Betley since a very young age I have strong links to the local community which serves to benefit both schools and supports the collaborative approach that is made by the federation in supporting the education for our pupils.
I am involved in a number of charitable organisations and have participated in a plethora of different fundraising events over the years including a number of half marathons (not that you'd suspect that now). Recently I have been made an ambassador for the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation and The British Liver Trust, a role I am also very proud of.
I am the link governor for both Science and Design Technology.
