Why you are a Governor

I became a school governor because I am passionate about supporting the education and development of young people. I believe strongly in the importance of providing children with the best possible learning environment and opportunities to thrive. As a governor, I want to contribute to shaping the future of the schools, ensuring that the curriculum is both engaging and challenging, and that the school community is a safe place where every student feels supported and inspired. I am committed to working alongside staff, parents, and fellow governors to help the schools continue to grow and succeed.

Your occupation

I work for Staffordshire Police with over 20 years’ service having worked in a number of varied roles across the county, with a constant focus on adult and child safeguarding.

I am currently working within the Executive Team at Stafford, as well as being the force tactical lead for Community Engagement. I have developed a number of technological solutions to help the force better engage with communities and I am the author of the forces Neighbourhood Policing strategy. I also undertake annual assessments of our Local Policing Teams, to ensure they consistently improve and develop.

I also undertake a national role and I am a member of the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC)- Criminal Justice Coordination Committee, where I have responsibility for supporting the strategy, delivery and co-ordination of the National Bail portfolio. The focus of this work is improving the national approach to bail, ensuring that victims, witnesses and communities are safeguarded through policy and legislative review, scrutiny, challenge and development.

What committee you are on and what your subject link is/are

I am a member of the Curriculum committee but I also have a keen interest in the finances of the school, ensuring that there is value in every pound that is spent by the two schools.

My link is History and Geography.

I have a long-standing interest in both history and geography, which will help to shape my approach to supporting education in these vital subjects. My enthusiasm for history stems from a deep curiosity about the past and its role in shaping the present. I believe understanding history helps students develop critical thinking skills and an appreciation for diverse perspectives. Geography, on the other hand, excites me for its focus on the relationship between people and their environment, as well as its importance in understanding global issues.

As the link governor for history and geography, I aim to ensure that both subjects are taught in a way that is engaging, relevant, and intellectually stimulating for all students. I am committed to supporting the school in providing a curriculum that fosters curiosity, develops knowledge, and encourages students to think critically about the world around them.

And something you like to do

I am kept busy by my three young children, who bring joy and adventure to my life. I enjoy spending quality time with them, whether we’re exploring new places or going on weekend walks together. These moments are precious to me, and they allow us to create lasting memories. Additionally, I am passionate about football and I’m an avid supporter of the mighty Manchester United. When time allows, I love to watch matches with Jack my eldest child and keep up with the team, even though recent success has been limited.
